SOCIAL

HOUSING

BAHIA- ECUADOR

2016

This project started out as the need of building social housing due to an earthquake in the Ecuadorian coast that destroyed many cities' infrastructure. The idea is to design a housing module that could grow with the family user needs. The house is made out of wood from the location using the balloon frame method. This means an easy construction for the people from the village could build it themselves. The beginning plants start with 4 modules of 4 spaces that divides in two living spaces, a two-person bedroom, a communal space and the house core corresponding to the kitchen and the bathroom. This first module starts as a two-person house which can grow to fit six persons. The  houses will form a bigger module with their form creating public spaces for gathering and this group will form a macro group in an urban scale to create a housing neighborhood.
